Christmas Giveaway For The Needy
It is with Great joy that our family spends the 3 weeks before Christmas gathering supplies and preparing for the big one day event of giving to the less-fortunate! After working several Christmases in Eastern KY with The Mountain Santa Clause we started the program in Sevier County last year with nearly 1,000 attending. A massive effort is made by many churches, businesses and individuals to make this special ministry possible. Advertisement on several radio stations and in newspapers along with many signs placed strategically draw the folks in.
Last year supplies were received from 8 different states. New and used toys, candy, fruit, food, shoes, and coats were sent in and gathered locally. Our family was joined in the work by Brother Jeff Kaylor and his family for the last two weeks. Over 2 dozen volunteers came and helped on the big day. Folks were lined up outside the gate as early as 1am the night before. We praise God for the spiritual results above all. It is estimated that the attendance will double this year.
This year supplies have already begun to come in and the work is well under way. Just today 50 brand new bicycles came in. As we make preparations we covet your prayers. If you or your church are close enough we could use your help. Supplies, especially new or used toys, are needed. Some churches even ship to us. We would also love for anyone who can to come and participate.
The Lord willing, this is how the day will go. Gates will open at 9:30 am with coffee, milk, and snacks being handed out. Whatever coats and shoes we have are made available to be gone through. At 11:00 am the service begins. There will be singing from the Tabb Family and others, a message will be preached and an invitation given. Then at 12 noon the giveaway! Folks line up to go through the “presents” area and are given a bag. As they go through they can pick what toys they want and food items and are given bags of candy, fruit, and snacks.
This is one of the highlights of the year for our girls. They enjoy playing with all kinds of toys, decorating, and serving the snacks. The campground, Riverbend Campground at red light 3 in Pigeon Forge, where we set up our home is on the river and is quiet and relaxing. We appreciate the owner, brother Rex Mcarter, for his participation in this part of our ministry and recommend your patronage of his facilities.
Thank you so much to those who help meet our family's personal needs during this time so that we can minister in a special way to the poor. The bottom line is the Gospel is preached. Tracts are also blanketed. Please pray for us in this and that souls will be saved. God bless.
Because of His mercy,
Evangelist Sean Tabb and Family
